Marie Ann Jacobson, 90, of Owatonna, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was born February 9, 1927 in Dodge County, near Hayfield, Minnesota the daughter of Ivar and Pauline (Madson) Hove. She graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. On September 26, 1945 she married Gerald Jacobson. Marie was a farmer's wife and raised her family on the farm. After they grew up, she worked at Federated Insurance. Through all of her physical challenges, Marie always had a great outlook on life. She was always smiling and happy and was an inspiration to many and a true gift from God. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Marie enjoyed crocheting many afghans and quilts as well as setting jigsaw puzzles. Norwegian cooking was important to her. Her cookies and lefse were a family treat. She also was a 4-H key leader. Faith was very important to her. She faithfully attended and served at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church as a Sunday School Teacher and the Ladies Aid. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Jacobson of Owatonna; daughters, Audrey Osterberg of Owatonna and Diane Norvell of Dayton; granddaughters, Shelly (Kerry) Swanson of Owatonna and Rochelle (Dan) Hilson of Eden Prairie; great-grandchildren, Alissa (Don) Luethy, Chadd (Katie) Swanson, Annabelle Hilson, Sean Hilson and Nolan Hilson and great-great-grandchildren, Karinda and Logan Willis, Alexa and Donavan Luethy and Tanner and Skyler Swanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivar and Pauline; son, James; grandchildren, Greg Miller and Sheila Richards and a brother, Ingval Hove. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church with Reverend Mike Walerius officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Pontoppidan Lutheran Cemetery.
