Marie Grace Wavrin, 92, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was born July 5, 1920 in Faribault, Minnesota, the daughter of Gustave and Bessie (Temple) Marschke. She moved with her family several times during her childhood to towns in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Marie graduated from Eau Claire, Wisconsin High School in 1938. She worked for Warner Hardware in Minneapolis and then moved to Owatonna in 1941 where she worked for Park Drug. Marie married Lowell Wavrin on February 26, 1944 at The Associated Church in Owatonna. Later she also worked at Federated Insurance and Red Owl. Marie was an active member of The Associated Church, Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts leadership, and other civic organizations. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, playing cards, and sewing. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Lowell Wavrin of Owatonna; daughter, Diane Plume of Danville, CA; son, Jim Wavrin of Aurora, CO; two granddaughters, Katie VandenHoek and Marissa Plume; and great grandson, Jordan Paul VandenHoek. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be at The Associated Church on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at The Associated Church with The Reverend James Oberg officiating. A private interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna at a later date. Arrangements are being completed with Michaelson Funeral Home.
