Marilyn Carol Dahl, 85, of Owatonna, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital. Marilyn was born December 16, 1927 in Kenyon, Minnesota the daughter of Carl and Mabel (Heltne) Remold. There she was raised and attended school graduating from Kenyon High School in 1945. She moved to Owatonna and worked with her twin sister, Mavis. Marilyn was united in marriage to Lloyd Dahl on March 29, 1947 at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault. The couple made their home in Owatonna. Marilyn began a day care in her home and there she cared for children for over 42 years. Lloyd died in 2003. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, canning and growing flowers. Later in life she began knitting. She volunteered at Trinity Nursery School and was known as Grandma to many of the children she watched. She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Church and her faith were very important to her. Her twin sister, Mavis and her had a very special bond and the passing of Mavis in 2010 left a void in her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family. She is survived by her children James (and Debra) Dahl of West Union, IA; Linda (and Wayne) Karna of Rapid City, SD; Michael (and Wendy) Dahl of Owatonna; close friend of the family, Becky Wilbourne of Hayfield; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters Delphine Burt of Rochester and Alice (and Howard) Riess of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Dahl; a son Terry Dahl; and her sister, Mavis Oeltjenbruns. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Peter Strommen officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Nursery School.
