Obituary

Marjorie L. Grunklee, 84, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Owatonna Hospital. Marjorie was born August 24, 1932 in the Township of Claremont Village, Dodge County, Minnesota the daughter of Adelbert and Ursula (Bailey) Naylor. She graduated from West Concord High School and went to work for Federated Insurance. She married Wilmer Grunklee on April 28, 1956 at First Presbyterian Church in Claremont. They made their home on the Grunklee family farm in Aurora Township where they raised six children. In addition to helping on the farm, Marjorie worked part time at various businesses throughout the years including: HyVee bakery and deli, Truth Hardware, Morton's Plumbing, Cashwise, and cook at board and care. In 1991, they retired from farming and moved to Owatonna. Marjorie had a passion for crocheting baptismal gowns and blankets, and afghans. She loved to read, dance and listen to Polka music, roller skate (in her younger years), crossword puzzles and word searches, and watch the tv show, Everybody Loves Raymond. Marjorie was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church including; Ladies Aide and Fellowship Club. She is survived by her husband, Wilmer Grunklee of Owatonna; six children, Sandy Born (Gary Mahagnoul) of Medford, Karen Grunklee-Bakke (Matt Curran) of Broken Arrow, OK, Kathy (Tom) Brage of Owatonna, Barb (Dale) Roeker of Owatonna, Kevin (Anna) Grunklee of Claremont, and Cheri Grunklee of Apple Valley; 14 grandchildren, Jason (Jaime) Born, Jeff (Cassie) Born, Josh (Kendra) Born, Eric Bakke, Leif Bakke, Nathan (Molly) Brage, Jarrod Grunklee, Dustin Dodge, Krista Nordby, Kaylee (Joe) Farr, Vanessa Brage, Allyson Grunklee, Gracie Grunklee, and Katelyn Grunklee; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Loren) Vrieze of Rochester; brother-in-law, Vernon Jackel of Blooming Prairie; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Naylor and Charles Naylor; sister, Harriet Jackel; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Joe Franks. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran, Havana Township on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran, Havana Township with The Reverend Alan Broadwell officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Havana Township. Memorials are preferred to American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or donor's choice.
