Marjorie L. Hoy, 81, of Owatonna, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her home under the care of hospice after battling three years with colon cancer. Marjorie was born July 15, 1927 in Clinton County, Iowa the daughter of Edwin and Ruth (Shipp) Ihde. Marjorie was raised and attended school in Clinton County. She married Irving Sheldon in Iowa and they made their home in Plainfield. He preceded her in death in 1955. She continued to make her home in Iowa and on June 7, 1969, she was united in marriage to Rolland Hoy in Dodge Center. They moved to Owatonna where Marjorie worked for OTC for many years. She retired from OTC in April of 1994. Rolland preceded her in death in 1997. Marjorie always liked to be busy so she went to work at Hy Vee. She enjoyed many things, especially doing embroidery on tea towels. She also liked to volunteer for the bloodmobile, the photography booth at the fair and the senior center. Marjorie enjoyed visiting and had a way with making people laugh. She is survived by 4 daughters, Sheila Lindell of Mankato; Julie Boeckmann of Albert Lea; Joyce Sheldon of San Antonio; Brenda Chute of Mankato; two sons, Roger (and Kandy) Sheldon of Denver, IA; Glenn (and Carol) Sheldon of Nashua, IA; two sisters, Margaret Melendy of Waterloo, IA; Gladys Batchelder of Andover, MN; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husbands, Irving and Rolland, her parents Edwin and Ruth Ihde, a sister, Marion Engelhart and a brother at infancy. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by the memorial services beginning at 7:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
