Obituary

Marjorie "Marge" Darlene Peterson passed away peacefully on November 29, 2020, at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna. Marjorie the daughter of Harry and Jane (Brynildson) Jensen, was born on March 21, 1921, in New Richland. After graduation from New Richland High School, she earned her degree from the Minnesota Business College. Marge worked at the National Tea Company of Minneapolis and later Jostens of Owatonna. She married Gordon Olaf Peterson on July 23, 1945, at the Congregational Church of New Richland. Marge later worked as the church secretary and administrative assistant at the Associated Church of Owatonna for over 30 years. Upon retirement she sold Avon and did demonstrations for grocery stores. Marge enjoyed gardening, dancing, going to movies with her husband, family trips and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed helping family with various projects. Marge is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Ronald Kath of Waseca; grandchildren, Andrew and Jessica Kath of Waseca and Amanda and Tony Sommer of Ellendale; great-grandchildren, Maddie Seberson, Aydan and Mya Kath, Brenna, Brooklyn and Jacob Sommer; sister, Beth Hammel of Owatonna; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jensen of Rochester and Chris Jensen of Clear Lake, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon who died on November 2, 1985; brothers, James and Jon Jensen; sister, Jeanne Kniefel. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family has chosen to have a celebration of life this Spring. Memorials are preferred to Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna or St. Croix Hospice.
