Marjorie K. Sales, 81, of Nitro passed away Saturday August 30, 2008, at CAMC Teays Valley after a short illness. Marjorie lived most of her life in Nitro and was a graduate of Iowa State University. She worked for Union Carbide early in her career. She was a volunteer for Thomas Memorial Hospital, member of the Nitro Community Choir, Library Board, and served on the Board of Directors of the Village on the Park in Nitro. She was employed by the Kanawha County Community Schools in the early 70s. Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nitro, where she served as a Deacon and sang in the church choir. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents James E. Anna K. Nelson Kidd and Her husband, Kenneth Sales Sr. Surviving are son, Kenneth Sales Jr. and his wife Barbara of Summersville; daughters, Kristine S. Dunlap of Nitro, and Karen S. Childers and her husband Philip of Salisbury, N.C.; sisters, Catherine Hannum of Ames, Iowa, and Jeanette Hartje of Kirksville, Mo.; grandchildren, Jon and Beth Dunlap, Brian, Nick, Scott and Jason Childers, and David and Michael Sales; and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Nitro in memory of Marjorie K. Sales. Visitation will be held Saturday Sept. 6 at Michaelson Funeral Home from 1-2pm. Graveside services will follow the visitation at Forest Hill Cemetery.
