Martha Mae Zak, 92, of Owatonna, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at her residence. She was born February 6, 1924 in Aurelia, Iowa the daughter of Nels and Naomi (Swensen) Peterson. She was educated at Claremont High School. Martha professed her faith in Holy Baptism on December 16, 1951. She lived for a number years in California where she worked at Lockheed Aircraft during World War II before moving back to Minnesota. While living in Owatonna, she worked at Jostens for several years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she founded the Trinity Nursery School 50 years ago. She also volunteered in the office every Thursday for over 25 years. She also dedicated many hours to the Owatonna Public School. She is survived by her two daughters Osa (Nubar Mursurlian) of Racine, WI and Singne (Gary) Arthur of Richland, MO; daughter-in-law, Linda Sulflow of Cummin, GA; 10 grandsons, Peter Christensen, Joshua Christensen, Patrick Christensen, Michael Sulflow, Cameron Sulflow, Adam Zeman, Andrew Zeman, Meciah (Karly) Zeman, Cainan (Rachelle) Zeman and Jamin (Brooke) Zeman and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Naomi; son, Randall Craig Sulflow (2011), brothers, Carl Dahl and Clifford Peterson and sisters, Helen Whitney and Ellen Peterson A PRIVATE funeral service will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Interment will be in Claremont Street Cemetery.
