Marvin Harold Jensen, 80, met his Savior on January 9, 2015 after a brave and dignified battle with cancer.
Marvin was born in Dodge County on February 23, 1934, and raised in rural Owatonna, MN, the son of Harold and Julia (Wincell) Jensen. He farmed and worked at the Owatonna Tool Company until enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves. Shortly thereafter, he married his wife Janet Koring. Marvin worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, most of that time as a rural mail carrier for Blooming Prairie, and he loved his work - he would sing and whistle throughout his work day.
Marvin was a humble, kind man who appreciated the simple things in life, particularly anything tied to nature. He loved farming, gardening, going for walks and viewing wild life, particularly bird-watching. He enjoyed fishing, and taught each of his children how to fish, which led to many family fishing outings as well as vacations in northern MN. He also had a passion for music, reading, and great food. He will be most remembered for his twinkling blue eyes, infectious grin, and especially his love for the Lord and his family, which made him an exceptional husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Janet, son Ron (Renae) of Chanhassen, MN, daughter JoAnn (Tim) Miller of Faribault, MN, and daughter Christine (Jeff) Rohrer, of Bloomington, MN, six grandchildren, Lisa, Ethan, Emma, Annika, Kyle and Alec, one great-grandchild, Samantha, five brothers, Laverne (Carol), Curtis (Bernie), Robert (Judy), David (Kathy), and Rick (Diana), and three sisters, Carole Correy, Barbara Lowell, and Linda Escabedo.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Julia, and sister Helen Jacobsen.
