Mary Ann Copp, 80, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born July 12, 1937 in Owatonna Township, Minnesota the daughter of George and Vlasta (Kubat) Spatenka. She was baptized at Associated Church in 1952. Mary Ann graduated from Owatonna High School, Class of 1955. On July 9, 1960, she married Paul Copp at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mary Ann painted and wallpapered before beginning her 20 year career at Jostens, retiring in 2009. She was a lifetime member of the Hugo Matejcek V.F.W. Auxiliary #3723 and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at Associated Church, in the schools serving lunch, the bloodmobile, the V.F.W., the Legion, the V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis and the Veterans Home in Hastings. She enjoyed trips up north to the cabin, baking bread, canning, reading, flower gardening, collecting loon figurines, visiting the shut-ins and mentoring her granddaughters. She is survived by her sons, Denis (Dawn) Copp of Owatonna , Chris Copp of Claremont, and Jay (Onie Kaiser) Copp of Owatonna; five granddaughters, Suntanna, Hannah, Sierra, Hailey and Danielle; siblings, Robert Spatenka of Owatonna, John (Janice) Spatenka of Blooming Prairie, Katherine Kyllo, Donna Wobschall and Pat Bock all of Owatonna and sisters-in-law, Lois Spatenka and Janice Spatenka both of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Copp; parents, George and Vlasta Spatenka; daughter in law, Roxanne Copp; brothers, Jim, George Jr., Richard, Calvin (Arlene) and Frank Spatenka; sisters, Joyce Johnson, Lorraine Rowe and Alice Spatenka; brothers-in-law, Rodney Kyllo, Hubert Rowe, Dave Wobschall and Dave Bock and sister-in-law, Lois Spatenka. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Coqui Conkey officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna.
