Mary Ann (Kortz) Hanson, 91, of Waseca, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at her son''s home in Waseca under the care of hospice and with her family at her side. Mary Ann Kortz was born August 23, 1919 in Mapleton, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Mary Kortz. Mary attended parochial school through the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Minnesota. Following high school, Mary Ann attended Mankato Commercial College. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Donald Hanson on April 5, 1942 in Owatonna. Mary Ann worked for Federated Insurance Company for 27 years. She worked various positions for Federated and retired from the life department in 1981. Don died on December 12, 1994. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women and the Owatonna Ladies Elks. Mary Ann also enjoyed gardening, canning, traveling to Navy reunions and the many vacations spent at Pokegama Lake near Grand Rapids. She was a wonderful storyteller, a friend to many and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law. She is survived by daughter, Carol (and Michael) Buskovick of Palisade, MN; three sons, Tom (and Mary) Hanson of Phoenix, AZ; Jerry (and Patricia) Hanson of Waseca; Dean (and Nancy) Hanson of Fairfax, CA; five grandchildren, Daniel Buskovick, Maia Buskovick, Aaron (and April) Hanson, Jarod (and Corry) Hanson, Cory (and Erin) Hanson; and a great granddaughter, Danika Hanson. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, a sister and two brothers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna with Father Martin Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel St. Joseph Hospice 1025 Marsh Street P.O. Box 8673.
