Mary Ann Spaetgens Lammers, 86, of Owatonna, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Traditions of Owatonna. Mary Ann was born July 19, 1926 in Le Sueur County, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Agnes (Ginter) Spaetgens. She attended country school through the 5th grade and then attended and graduated in 1944 from McKinley High School in Le Center. Mary Ann attended St. Benedict''s College and then returned to Le Sueur where she worked as an executive secretary for the Green Giant Corporation. She was united in marriage to Francis 'Hienie' Lammers on October 11, 1947 in Le Center, Minnesota. The couple moved to Owatonna in October of 1959. Mary Ann was a homemaker raising their three boys. She then began working for Owatonna Bus Company where she drove bus for 18 years. Hienie died April 24, 1998. She continued making her home on Lincoln Avenue and then entered the Brooks Assisted Living and later Traditions of Owatonna. Mary Ann was a member at St. Joseph''s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed being a part of the Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Hats, Owatonna Women''s Club, the Elks and Eagles Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, crocheting, scrapbooking and entertaining. Mary Ann also enjoyed being with her coffee club. For 53 years, six days a week, except Sundays, Mary Ann joined her friends for coffee at each other''s homes. She also had other coffee groups she enjoyed daily. Mary Ann and Hienie enjoyed traveling on their motorcycles going on trips or riding with their friends with the Steele Wheel Motorcycle Club. She is survived by her sons Greg (and Cindy) Lammers of Owatonna and their children Brock and Beau; Tim (and Pam) Lammers of Omaha, NE and their children Samantha, Ellie, Sophia and Jack; Tom (and Lisa) Lammers of Owatonna and their children Tara and Patrick; and a sister, Suzanne Thorp of Ferndale, WA and her four sons Andy, Trevor, Eric and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her husband Hienie, and her parents, Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Rosary beginning at 3:30 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary or St. Mary''s Catholic School Memorial Fund.
