Mary Ann Rohwer, 75, of rural Medford, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at her home. She was born April 25, 1935 near Ellendale the daughter of Chris and Anna (Pedersen) Olson. Following high school, Mary Ann worked at Federated Insurance for a short time prior to moving to Alabama to stay with her sister. She worked at Ft. Rutgers Army Base and later moved to Ft. Leonard Wood Base in Missouri. She married James Rutherford in 1958. The couple was later divorced. Mary Ann and her three children moved back to Minnesota in 1963. She married William Rohwer July 9, 1968 in Owatonna. The couple has lived near Medford since their marriage. More than just her true grandchildren called Mary Ann grandma. She babysat many of her friends' and neighbors' children over the years that considered her "grandma." She was very patriotic, loved the Minnesota Twins, the outdoors, gardening, and playing cards. She is survived by her husband, William Rohwer of Medford; sons, Paul (and Georgia) Rutherford of Santa Barbara, CA, Eric 'Chris' (and Deb) Rutherford of Bull Shoals, AR, Bruce Rutherford of Medford, Gregg (and Missy) Rohwer of Minnesota Lake; grandchildren, Joshua (and Cindy) Rutherford, Jessica (and Jason) Spooner, Christopher (and Kassie) Rutherford, Michael Rutherford, Kiley Swanson, Arica Rohwer, Emma Rohwer; sisters in law, Marion Utpadel of Owatonna, Jo Ann Olson of Ellendale and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, James Rutherford; brothers, Eddie Olson, Anton Olson, Jimmie Olson; sisters, Irene Medcalf, Erlys Cole. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery in Geneva.
