Mary M. Tennant of Owatonna passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester. She was 81. Mary Munroe Tennant was born May 17, 1931 in Hibbing, Minnesota the daughter of Yost and Catherine (Collins) Munroe. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1949 and then attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she received her teaching degree. Mary taught elementary school in Circle Pines. Mary was married to Robert Tennant, Jr. and the couple moved to Owatonna in 1959. In 1987, they moved to Arkansas and in 1997 to Phoenix before returning to Owatonna in 2007. Mary loved her grandchildren and loved to talk and spend time with them. She had such a way of knowing the grandchildren''s interest and was always very supportive to what they enjoyed doing. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and travel. Mary is survived by her five children: Robert (and Julie O''Brien) Tennant of Lake Elmo; Judy Tennant of Savage; Tom (and Terry) Tennant of Owatonna; David Tennant of Myrtle Beach, SC; Charlie (and Heather) Tennant of Tucson, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A celebration of Mary''s life and reception will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. There will be a time to share memories with family and friends at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Steele County Food Shelf.
