Mathilde Katherina Zylstra, 89, of Owatonna, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Koda Living Community. She was born September 26, 1926 in Freckenhorst, Germany the daughter of Herman and Josephine Hoppe. Mathilde married Peter Zylstra July 31, 1947 in Germany. The couple lived in Holland before immigrating to Minnesota in 1952. They farmed together until 1960 when they moved to Owatonna. Mathilde was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was active in the Christian Women's Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and baking. She loved to bake chocolate chip cookies for her friends and family. She is survived by daughters, Jo (and Dan) Kubat of Owatonna, Audrey (and Mark) Tresidder of Owatonna; sons, Jim Zylstra of Owatonna, Ken Zylstra of Blooming Prairie, Tom (and Cyndee) Zylstra of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Hedwig Schulz of Germany and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, brothers and sisters. Visitation will be at Grace Baptist Church on Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:30am at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor David Levy officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
