With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Matthew Russell Beck, age 21, who left us far too soon on Sunday, March 15, 2026. He is a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, with a presence about him that brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew him.

Born on August 2, 2004, Matthew grew up in Owatonna. He graduated from OHS and from South Central College in 2022. Matthew had the opportunity and honor to speak at a State Congressional hearing in support of the Southern MN Workforce Development Center, where he shared his experience of matching his skillset and interests to shape his future. This led to his journey of becoming an apprentice with the Boilermaker Union.

Matthew is known for his contagious laugh, a kind heart, sense of humor, engine skills, and the way he could make others feel seen and valued. He cared about those dear to his heart. He had a passion for his Jeep, and all things diesel. He found joy in spending time with family, friends, tinkering in the shop, and his love of dogs (especially his best friend Turbo).

He is survived by his parents, Jennifer Beck and Russell Beck; brother, Nicholas Beck all of Owatonna; Maternal Grandparents Charles and Linda Danks of Medford; nephew to Tom (Barb) Beck and Peter Beck of Owatonna; Elizabeth (Michael) Knudson of North Mankato; Dale (Lindsay) Danks of Faribault; and Elana (Matthew) Brunner of Kenyon. Cousins Zachary (Kendra) Schumacher, Devon Danks, Easton Danks, and Madeline Brunner.

Matthew was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents T. Russell and Elise Beck, Aunt Juanita Beck, and cousin William Brunner.

A visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 4PM to 7PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 11AM at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior - where family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate Matthew's life. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
