Matthew J. Christensen , 22, originally of Kenyon, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 in Winona. Matthew was born January 12, 1987 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When Matthew was young, he moved with his family to Wisconsin and then to Northfield. They then moved to Hastings where he attended elementary and middle school. Later they moved to Kenyon where Matthew graduated from Kenyon-Wanamingo High School in 2005. He then moved to Winona where he attended Southeast Technical College. In Winona he worked as a manger for McDonalds and Hardees. He enjoyed many things especially programming computers. He also enjoyed camping, reading, fishing and was an avid knife collector. He is survived by his parents, Angela and Robby Zimmerman of Kenyon; two brothers, Brian (and Sarah Floren) Christensen of Dundas; Andrew (and Nicole) Zimmerman of Great Falls; his girlfriend, Jesse Matykiewicz of Winona; and his grandparents, Duwayne and Viola Zimmerman of Dennison. He was preceded in death by his aunt Mary Speese; and his grandparents, Alvin and Elsie Christensen. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Dale Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Mike Lockerby and Reverend Jim Bzoskie officiating.
