Melba Joanne Winter, 78, of West Concord, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Fairview Care Center.
Melba was born February 29, 1936, in Rochester, Minnesota the daughter of John Jack and Lois (Gough) Agerter. She was raised in West Concord and attended school graduating in 1954. Melba was united in marriage to Wilmar Samuel Winter on August 28, 1955, in Kasson at St. John''s Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Zumbro Falls and Rochester before moving to West Concord in 1969. Wilmar died in 1984.
Melba worked at the Kahler Hotel as a cook and also as an aide for special needs children. She worked at the Dodge County Sheriff''s office as a Dispatcher and at Pace Dairy Foods in Rochester. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a Den Mother of the Boy Scouts of America in Rochester. She enjoyed camping, riding motorcycle, sports, dancing and music.
She is survived by a son Bryan (and Sherrie) Winter of Rochester; a daughter, Dedra (and Timothy ) Thraenert of Owatonna; son, Bill (and Crystal) Winter of West Concord; four grandchildren, Devin Winter of Austin; Brittany Winter of Eagan; Tori Winter of West Concord and Taron Winter of West Concord. She is also survived by a brother, Royce (and Vera) Agerter of Jackson, TN and a sister-in-law, Lenora Tvedt of Kasson.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in West Concord on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord with The Reverend Chris Brekke officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to West Concord Fire and Rescue. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord.
