Melvin R. 'Pete' Froehlich, 86, of Owatonna, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Homestead Hospice House. He was born July 26, 1921 in Ramona, SD to August and Meta (Abraham) Froehlich. He attended school in Ramona and moved to the Meriden area in 1930. Pete farmed in Meriden Township until retiring in 1989. He married Delores Hruza December 5, 1970. Pete was on the St. Paul''s Lutheran church council, served on the Meriden Creamery Board, and the Meriden town board. Pete enjoyed family, football (especially the Packers), baseball, softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Pete also had a passion for growing a wonderful garden. Pete is survived by his wife Delores, two sons Marshall (Jeanne) Kath of Prior Lake, Mark (Julie) Kath of Owatonna, one grandson Dan Ashley of Owatonna, and a brother Martin 'Tardy' (Majie) Froehlich of Owatonna. His parents, two brothers John and Lyle, and one sister Janice Thompson preceded him in death. Funeral service will be Thursday March 13, at 11AM at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church Meriden with the Reverend Gary Rusinko officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday March 12 from 4-7 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
