Merle "Lenny" Leonard Berg, 51, of Owatonna, died Friday, April 19, 2019 at Homestead Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 21, 1968 in Northfield, Minnesota the son of Milton and Martina (Gubeli) Berg. He grew up in Northfield where he graduated from high school in 1986. He continued his schooling at Faribault Technical College receiving an Associate Degree. While in school, he began an apprenticeship at OTC in Owatonna, now known as Bosch, where he worked as a machinist and most recently as a machinist lead. On June 28, 1997, he married Lonnie Timm in La Crosse, WI. Lenny loved snowmobiling and motorcycling with his wife. He loved visiting with people, even strangers, and made friends easily. He dearly loved his dachshund, Sir. McLovin. He is survived by his wife, Lonnie Berg of Owatonna; mother, Martina Berg of Northfield; siblings, Milton (Mickey) Berg of Northfield, Martin (Sandra) Berg of Lonsdale and Mildred "Pixie" (Rich) Ness of Pelican Rapids; step-mother-in-law, Theresa "Terri" R. Brandon of Owatonna; step-sons, Brent Hanson, Barry Hanson and Brian (Madi) Calhoun all of Owatonna and Duane Calhoun of Austin; 13 grandchildren; close friends, Howard Brandt and Bryce Bowman and many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by father, Milton Berg; step-daughter, Rebecca Ann Calhoun and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Friday, April 26th from 4-7pm and on Saturday from 10-11am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. A private interment will be in Othello Cemetery near Douglas at a later date.
