Michael Dean Bartsch of Claremont, Minnesota passed away peacefully at Homestead Hospice House on September 27th, 2015, following an extended illness. He was 57. Mike was born to Clifford and Darlene (Jensen) Bartsch on October 12th, 1957. He attended District 71 Country School through 6th grade and then attended Owatonna High School where he graduated in 1976. He participated in FFA, 4-H and Wrestling. After graduation he worked with various construction firms and auto body repair shops. He served as a Special Deputy and volunteered with Civil Defense for many years. On November 14th, 1981 Mike married Renee Springer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna; they later divorced. From 2000-2011 Mike served as the Animal Control Officer for the City of Owatonna where his love for animals was evident. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and had a love for nature. One of his hobbies was finding and collecting antiques. Mike was a man of many talents and engineered anything and everything out of wood and steel. He enjoyed spending his free time working on projects and spending time with family and friends. Mike is survived by his daughters, Krystle (Travis) Johnson of Owatonna; Mandi (Shane) Hewitt of Rochester; Granddaughter Ayla Hewitt; Parents, Clifford and Darlene Bartsch of Owatonna; Siblings, Steve (Christine) Bartsch of Owatonna; Barb (Mike) Bishman of Owatonna and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. May God rest his soul and bless those fortunate to have known him especially the caring staff of hospice. Visitation will be at Aurora Lutheran Church on Monday, October 5th, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Aurora Lutheran Church, Havana Township, with Reverend Paul Nelson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
