Michael D. Mike Borchert, died Monday September 21, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus Rochester, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born April 26, 1951 in Owatonna to Adolph and Beverly (Kopischke) Borchert. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1969 and attended Faribault Vo-Tech. Mike was united in marriage to Nancy Boreen on September 18, 1971 in Owatonna. Mike started working with his father at Steele County Marine, and later operated Mike's Marine Repair. Mike so loved his children and grandchildren and was very proud of all of them, every Friday was spent with he and Nancy and their grandchildren. Mike enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and spent countless hours with family and friends fishing. He always had a good joke and was a prankster. Mike is survived by his wife Nancy, and his son Korey (Tanya) Borchert and their children Layla and Ethan, daughter Melissa (Dan) Tellijohn and their children Maiah, Elijah, and Isaiah. Mike is also survived by his mother Beverly Borchert, and his siblings Denise Halverson, Kevin Borchert, Jeff (Joni) Borchert, Wendy (Ron) Gaveske, Mary (Todd) Block, and Jenny (Greg) Vanek, he is also survived by a brother in law Ron (Julie) Boreen and sister in law Patti (Ronnie) Blakstad, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral service will be held Friday September 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Buegler officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
