Obituary

Michael Wayne Stenzel, 67, of Owatonna, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his home. He was born July 2, 1950 in Wells the son of Daniel and Beverly (Holleschau) Stenzel. Mike moved to the Owatonna area as a child and attended Owatonna High School. He married Louise Miller November 8, 1969 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple lived near Meriden their entire life together. Mike worked for Ringhofer Application before starting his 42 year career with the Owatonna Canning Company retiring in 2016 from what was then known as Lakeside Foods. In retirement, Mike enjoyed working part time for Welch Farms near Claremont. Mike enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors. He was very mechanically inclined and loved spending time in his shop restoring the tractors he collected. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors as well. Mike also spent time in his shop doing projects for others. He was always willing to drop everything to help another person in need. He loved to fish even though he didn't always have a lot of time to do so. Mike liked watching old western movies and cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Louise Stenzel of Meriden; daughter, Julie (and Steve) Felix of Morristown; son, Dan (and Karen) Stenzel of Medford; grandchildren, Tyler Stenzel, Dylan Stenzel, Annarae Felix, Avannah Felix; siblings, Stephan (and Karen Gigikos) Stenzel of Anoka, Ken (and Cheryl) Stenzel of Faribault, Doris Ulrich of Owatonna, Dee Ulrich of Owatonna, Marilyn (and Darrell) Weber of Owatonna, Russ Stenzel of Rochester, Patrice (and Dale) Seykora of Owatonna, Tom (and Cheryl) Stenzel of Owatonna, Tonya (and Keith) Ingvaldson of Ellendale, Tim (and DaNae) Stenzel of Owatonna, Linda Miller of Owatonna; sisters-in-law, LaVonne (and Dale) Strand, Lorraine Rieck, Leona (and Norman) Rieck; brother-in-law, LaVerne Miller and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Stenzel & Beverly Miller; brothers-in-law, Tim Fischer, Emil Rieck, Hans Ulrich, Bob Ulrich. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm and on Friday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:30am at Michaelson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna.
