Obituary

Milbert B. Walker, 92, of Wanamingo, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. He was born March 8, 1918 in Mantorville, Minnesota the son of Bennett and Pearl (Rupport) Walker. At a young age Milbert moved to International Falls and started working in the paper mill industry. He then served in the United States Army during WWII, Milbert then married Dorothy Stafford on June 6, 1952 in International Falls and the couple moved to Wanamingo in 1958 and started farming. Milbert was a lifetime member of the Wanamingo VFW. He enjoyed fishing and telling stories. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Walker of Wanamingo, daughter, Elaine (and Michael) Waddington of Portland, OR, son, Wilbert 'Bob' (and Joyce) Walker of Mantorville, seven grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Aspelund on Friday March 11, 2011from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday March 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Aspelund with The Reverend Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Aspelund, with honors provided by the Wanamingo Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Michaelson Funeral Home of Kenyon.
