Mildred A. Currier, 88, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at her home. She was born November 22, 1923 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Fred and Anna (Halla) Stransky. Mildred graduated from OHS with the class of 1942, and then attended Winona State College. Mildred started working at Jostens, and then married Howard Currier November 20, 1964 in Owatonna, and the couple lived in Meriden Township. Mildred was a volunteer at the Steele County Food Shelf, and was the Photography Superintendent at the SCFF for forty eight years. Mildred was a wonderful mother and aunt. She is survived by her son Tom Currier of Owatonna, three nieces Judy (Peter Kohn) Sandstrom of Chicago, Janet (Polk) Davison of Des Moines, and Jean (Andy Shaffer) Sandstrom of Des Moines. She is also survived by a great niece Erin (Brad) Davison- Rippey, and great nephew Neal Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Lawrence Stransky, and sister Irene Sandstrom. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday December 1, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday December 2, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Oberg officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Steele County Food Shelf.
