Mildred Irene Sundry Ekblad, age 107, of Zumbrota, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at Zumbrota Care Center.
Mildred was born May 11, 1908 in Wisconsin the daughter of Emil and Sara Krueger. The family moved near Chatfield where she attended school. Mildred was united in marriage to Joel Sundry on December 18, 1926 in Zumbrota. The couple moved to Kansas and later returned to the area where Joel worked for Goodhue County. Joel died in 1972. Mildred later married Willis Bill Ekblad on August 4, 1981. Bill died in 1986.
Mildred was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She also enjoyed baking and sewing.
She is survived by daughter, Judith (and Haye) Zylstra of Kenyon; two grandchildren, David (and Lisa) Zylstra of California, Sharon (and Dean) Van Kampen of Otley, IA; five great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Joel Sundry; her second husband Willis Ekblad; her daughter, Elaine; a brother George; a sister Hazel and her parents.
Visitation will be at Stordahl Lutheran Church, rural Zumbrota on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Stordahl Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kathleen Lowery officiating. Interment will be in the Stordahl Lutheran Cemetery in rural Zumbrota. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon.
