Mildred Millie Jeanette Behsman, 94, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Reflections Hospice of Three Links Care Center, Northfield.
She was born March 11, 1922 in Ida Grove, Iowa the daughter of Elijah and Mary (Thompson) Crane. Millie graduated from Alden High School with the Class of 1940 and went on to attend business school in Mankato. She lived in various places prior to moving to Owatonna. Millie worked for Josten's, first doing defense work and later as a final ring inspector, from 1943 to 1957. In 1953 Millie and Clarence met at Josten's and were wed on October 3rd of the same year. As a mother and homemaker Millie then operated a seamstress business out of her home for over 40 years which included making items such as altar cloths for her church and performance apparel for the Roger Tenney Chorale and the OHS Orchestra. Millie was an active member of the United Methodist Church serving on various committees including the Mission Committee.
Millie was always busy and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, being outdoors, crafts, cake decorating, ceramics, knitting and being at home raising her children.
She is survived by daughters, Lorinda Lori Behsman of Owatonna, Tracy Behsman of Montgomery and several nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Behsman; brothers, Alexander Crane, Giles Crane, James Crane; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Christenson, Grace Evelyn Crane
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held June 20, 2016 at 2pm at Michaelson Funeral Home with Chaplain Clark Cary of Three Links Care Center officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials given to the family will be used to purchase a special remembrance in Millie's honor.
