Mildred Delores Meixner, 89, of Owatonna, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Reflections Care Suites of Three Links Care Center in Northfield, Minnesota.
She was born October 6, 1925 in Meriden Township, Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Martha (Stevenson) Heinz. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in 1939. Mildred married Elmer Meixner on July 29, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna. In 2007, they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Mildred worked in the bakery at Frey's Super Value and HyVee until she retired.
Mildred was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the altar guild at St. John Lutheran Church. She loved to garden, plant flowers, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and loved to bake especially bread. She also collected small glass bottles. Mildred and Elmer enjoyed fishing in northern Minnesota along with the local lakes. They also played in card club.
She is survived by her grandson, Timothy (and Rebecca) Chamberlain of Eagan; two great grandchildren, Oliver and Beckett Chamberlain; extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer, two daughters, Linda Chamberlain and Carol Meixner; son-in-law, David Chamberlain, two brothers, Ray and Marvin, and two sisters, Beatrice and Mamie.
Visitation will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. John Cemetery, Koda Living Community, Reflections Care Suites or donor's choice. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
