Millie Prestegard, 84, of Owatonna, died peacefully Monday, February 27, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House.
She was born March 8, 1932 in Havana Township the daughter of Henry and Jennie (Seykora) Pribyl. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1950. After graduation she worked at First National Bank and Jostens.
On October 19, 1955 Millie married Olin Prestegard and settled in Aurora Township where they raised crops, livestock, and kids. She loved to be outside helping with field work, driving tractors and loved baking and cooking meals. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crafts, and quilting. Every child, grandchild, and great grandchild has one of Grandma's quilts.
Millie was a life long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of St. Theresa's Guild. She was a 4-H leader, member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Buttons and Bows Extension Club. She was a life long blood donor to the American Red Cross.
She is survived by 8 children, Diane (James) Guse, Bruce (Barb Gallea) Prestegard, Joan (Lowell) Skelton, Janet (Dan) Hedberg, Dale (Rhonda) Prestegard, Paul (Lisa) Prestegard, Kaylee Reese, and John Prestegard; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Chuck) Herdina, Florence (Aldinger) Lupkes; sisters-in-law, Joyce Pribyl, Joan Pribyl, Grace Pribyl, Inez Thorpe as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Olin; son, Greg Prestegard; brothers, Ben Pribyl, Silvin Pribyl, George Pribyl, Jerome Pribyl.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday March 2 from 4pm to 8pm and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday March 3 from 9am to 10am. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (812 S. Cedar Ave, Owatonna) with The Reverend John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House, Owatonna Area Hospice Patient Care Fund or to the donor's choice.
