Mildred E. Thorson, 86, of Owatonna, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Owatonna Hospital. She was born June 25, 1925 in Otisco Township, the daughter of Melker and Sabina (Peterson) Nelson. Mildred graduated from Waseca High School, and then started working at Jostens in Owatonna. Mildred later married Leslie Thorson December 18, 1954 at Vista Covenant Church in New Richland, and the couple made their home in Owatonna, where they raised three daughters. Mildred was a member of Christ Community Covenant Church, and a member of Christian Women. Leslie died July 19, 2007. Mildred's daughters and grandchildren were a very important part of her life, and she had a very strong faith in the Lord. She is survived by her daughters Margie (and Micah) Lynn of Blooming Prairie, Mary (and Mark) Ulman of Owatonna, and five grandchildren Mark, Matthew, Adam, Sarah, and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leslie, daughter Marie Thorson, two brothers, and four sisters. Visitation will be at Christ Community Covenant Church on Wednesday December 14, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Christ Community Covenant Church with Dr. Brent V. Carlson officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Christ Community Covenant Church or Sterling House.
