Obituary

Milo D. Peterson, 88, of Kenyon, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at his home. Milo was born February 11, 1924 in Zumbrota, the son of Edward and Gena (Bustad) Peterson. He grew up on a farm south of Kenyon and attended rural school district 140. Milo enlisted into the Navy in 1941 and served in WWII. Milo and Jean Rauk married on July 11, 1946 in the Little Brown Church in Iowa. He opened a gas station and car lot in Kenyon in 1946. Milo purchased the Kenyon Ford dealership in 1961. Milo retired in 1989. Milo enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Milo''s home away from home was the Kenyon VFW. He liked to garden and grow tomatoes, radishes and loved to cook. Milo could be found fishing at the lake with an old cane pole or driving around Kenyon to see what was happening. Milo is survived by his children, Donald Peterson of Kenyon, Gerald (and Barbara) Peterson of Kenyon, Robert (and Helen) Peterson of Kenyon, Ronnie (and JoAnn) Peterson of Kenyon, Julie (and Paul) Aaker of Kenyon, Ryan (and Gail) Peterson of Kenyon; brothers, Earl (Simmy) Peterson of Andover, Ardean 'Bob' Peterson of Faribault; sisters, Ellen 'Sally' Gordon of Rochester, Irene Hassler of San Mateo, CA; sisters-in-law, Frances Peterson of Austin, Bonnie Peterson of Rochester; grandchildren, Matt Peterson, Tammy (Mark) Greden, Jodi (Steve) Christianson, Scott, Paul (Lisa) Peterson, Jill (Matt) Markham, Luke (LeAnn) Peterson, Melissa (Jason) Fink, Justin Peterson, Jamie (Jason) Barron, Michael, Colton Aaker, Davin, Rachel, Nicole Peterson; 15 great grandchildren; aunt, Anna Booth of Grand Meadow. Milo was preceded in death by his wife; parents; mother and father-in-law; brothers, Lloyd, Francis Peterson; infant brother, Arnold Peterson; brother-in-law, Willard Gordon and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Peterson and Pat Peterson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon. Military honors will be provided by the Kenyon Veterans Color Guard. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church and Kenyon Veterans Color Guard.
