Myron O. Clercx, 84, of Owatonna, died Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, Minnesota.
He was born November 25, 1929 in Canton, South Dakota the son of Mel and Nellie (Bjelde) Olson. Later his mother remarried to Bill Clercx and he adopted Myron and his brother. He grew up in Rock Rapids, Iowa and attended school and graduated high school. Myron served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He married Beverly Rust on February 21, 1953 in Luverne, MN. After their marriage they moved to Omaha, NE where Myron attended college. They moved to Owatonna in 1969. Myron worked for the railroad, Red Owl stores and was employed by Truth Hardware for 21 years as a supervisor until his retirement in 1991.
Before losing his eye sight Myron enjoyed traveling, fishing, music, bird watching, wood carving, watching TV and playing computer games. Myron was a member of the Eagles Club, American Legion, life membership at the VFW, and member of the Rochester Korea Club.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Clercx; son, Steven Clercx of St. Peter, daughters, Julie (Mike) Turnmire of Clarks Grove and Vicki (Stephen) Malone of Becker; four grandchildren; brother, Merlin (Carleen) Clercx of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nellie Clercx, his birth father, Mel Olson and a baby brother.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
