Obituary

Myron Mike Jerome Quam, 86, of Kenyon, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Myron was born July 17, 1930 in Kenyon, Minnesota the son of Alfred and Mildred (Myran) Quam. He grew up on the famiy farm east of Kenyon in Cherry Grove Township. He graduated from Kenyon High School with the class of 1948. In 1951 until 1953, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Myron was a lifelong member of Dale Lutheran Church where he served as Treasurer and President of the congregation. He married Erna Mae Grimm at Dale Lutheran Church on July 9, 1955 and they made their home in Owatonna, while he worked at the Owatonna Tool Company. In 1956 they moved to Faribault, MN and he worked for Folsom T.V. and Radio until 1966 when they moved to a farm in Cherry Grove Township in Kenyon. They raised two children, Gaylen Quam and Karen Mae Quam, Karen was killed in an auto accident at the age of 20. Together they raised their 3 year old grandson, Aaron Michael Quam. Myron enjoyed puzzles, visiting with friends and neighbors, and spending time with family, especially his great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Erna of Kenyon; son, Gaylen Quam (Laura Neth) of Apple Valley; grandson, Aaron (Sara) Quam of Kenyon; two great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Quam; seven brothers, Alfred (Edna) Quam, Franklin (Audrey) Quam, Paul Quam, John (Birgit) Quam, Gary (Judy) Quam, Daniel (Shari) Quam, and Dale (Pam) Quam; three sisters, Donna (Jim) Haugen, Sandra (Ken) Harris, and Christine (Gary) Pederson; two brothers-in-law, Luke Broulik and Jim Quaale. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Mae Quam in 1983; two sisters, Reone Broulik and Alice Quaale; sister-in-law, Paula Quam. Private family services will be held at Dale Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Myron and family wish to thank the many caregivers he has had throughout the years.
