Myrth Leroy Mogren, 82, of Kenyon, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Pleasant Manor in Faribault.
He was born January 6, 1935 in Kenyon, Minnesota the son of Algot and Myra (Fremouw) Mogren. At the age of five, he moved to a small farm on the east edge of Kenyon where he grew up. He attended school in Kenyon and graduated from high school. He joined the United States Army and received a medical discharge. He married Joan Bray and the couple made their home in Kenyon where they raised their family. Most of Myrth's working career was spent as a boiler engineer. He also operated cranes for a brief time.
Myrth enjoyed working on steam engines and running the sawmill with his father, tinkering on the farm, attending threshing bees, watching western movies and funny movies with the grandchildren, traveling and was a fan of big band music and Elvis Presley. While living at Pleasant Manor, he especially enjoyed keeping things lively for all the staff.
He is survived by his children, Adrian Mogren of Kenyon, Annette (fianc�©e, Taras Walker) Stenger of Faribault, Brenda Fletcher of Faribault and David Mogren of North Branch; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Diane (Jim) Kemp of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; grandchildren, Matthew and Samuel Stenger; daughter-in-law, Kelly Mogren and son-in-law, Todd Fletcher.
A funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 10:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service also at the church. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery.
