Myrtle Alvira Bowe, 98, of Owatonna, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Koda Living Community in Owatonna. She was born August 19, 1915 in Stevens County, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Rose Dornquast. As a child, she moved to the Owatonna area with her family. She attended Country School District #11. She worked for Dr. Morehead for several years in Owatonna. Myrtle married Stanley Bowe on September 3, 1938 at St. John''s Parsonage. In 1955, Stanley and Myrtle moved to Havana where they farmed. They retired from farming in 1980. Stanley died in 2002 and Myrtle continued to live on the farm until 2005 when she moved to Park Place in Owatonna. Myrtle was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, vegetables and flowers, canning, and baking. Myrtle also fished and would accompany Stanley on his hunting trips to Montana. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Elks. She is survived by her children, Jeanette (Allan) Ness of Waikoloa, HI, John (Pam) Bowe of Owatonna, JoAnn (Tim Tufte) Hiebert of Owatonna; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bowe of Roundup, MT; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Herbert (Shirley) Dornquast of Phoenix, AZ; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley, son, James, daughter, Judith, granddaughter, Belinda Deming, great granddaughter, and three brothers. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Havana Cemetery in Havana Township. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church.
