Obituary

Myrtle M. Starch, 90, of Nerstrand, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Kenyon Sunset Home. Myrtle was born February 18, 1922 to George and Anna (Radel) Ward in Ellington Township, Dodge County, MN. She was baptized at the Rice Lake Church. She attended country school at Rice Lake and graduated from Claremont High School. She worked at the Piggly Wiggly store in Faribault and later at J.C. Penney in Faribault and then Owatonna. She was united in marriage to Curtis Starch on February 22, 1962 in New Jersey where her brother Lester was a pastor. She helped Curtis on the farm, from driving tractor to keeping the books. As her parents aged, she took care of them as long as possible in the family''s home. In retirement she worked part time with the census bureau preparing for the 1990 census. Myrtle was a member of the Nerstrand United Methodist Church where she served as the financial secretary for many years. She also served in the many offices in the Nerstrand United Methodist Women''s group. Myrtle is survived by one son, David and his wife Barbara of Nerstrand; step-grandchildren, Jason and Angela Stutzka of Lakeville, Mark and Rosemary Stutzka of Rochester; great granddaughter Jasmine Stutzka of Lakeville; sister-in-law, Evelyn Ward of Owatonna; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Douglas Orton of Cottage Grove; and several nieces and nephews and other friends and relatives. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Curtis in 1986, her parents, her brother Lester Ward, her sister Mildred Brockmiller and brother-in-law Fred Brockmiller, a sister in infancy, a nephew James Ward and a niece Ruth Saufferer. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at United Methodist Church, Nerstrand on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church, Nerstrand with Reverend Dana Houck officiating. Interment will be in the Methodist Memorial Knoll Cemetery in Nerstrand. Visitation: 06/15/2012 17:00 06/15/2012 20:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the church 06/16/2012 11:00
