Nada Wiggins passed away May 8, 2024, at the age of 95 at Traditions 1 in Owatonna, Minnesota.
Nada was born on April 10, 1929 in Lincoln Township, Lake Crystal, Blue Earth County, MN. She is survived by her children; Jana White of Cottage Grove, Diana (John) Vasicek of Vadnais Heights, MN, Laurie Stewart of Owatonna, MN, and Jeff (Shari) Wiggins of Minneapolis, MN - her grandchildren; Matthew (Andrea) White, Michael Vasicek, Natalie (Nikita) Klochan, Tamaryn Wiggins and Leo Wiggins – and her great grandchildren Malcolm White, Maryn and Freya Klochan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wiggins, her parents Fred and Nina Fredericksen, and 4 siblings; Wyelene Fredericksen, Earle Fredericksen, Elsie Williams and Frances McGuire.
Nada attended Mankato State University and the University of MN. She taught Home Economics for 2 years in Gibbon, MN prior to her marriage to Donald Wiggins. Nada and Don were happily married for 52 years. They moved to Owatonna in 1959 and Nada has lived there the rest of her life.
She provided daycare to about 60 children over a period of years. She did custom sewing for many years, sewing christening gowns, wedding dresses, custom adult clothing and alterations. She was an active 4-H Leader when her kids were growing up. Nada and Don were active members of First Baptist Church in Owatonna for about 50 years.
She loved to be with her family, including nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren loved the little notes, small gifts on a pillow and individual time she spent with them. She enjoyed country and gospel music, especially The Gaithers. Her biggest passion was making quilts. Each one of her children and grandchildren have a quilt handmade by her.
Nada lived at Traditions 1 for 2 years. She received wonderful care and made many friends with both residents and staff. Moments Hospice worked with Traditions at the end, providing exceptional comfort care.
Funeral service will be held at Michaelson Funeral home in Owatonna on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:30AM with a visitation starting at 10AM. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery with a lunch to follow the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Children's Home Society of MN or Disabled Veteran's of America.
