Nancy K. Furness, 65, of Owatonna, peacefully transitioned from this earth to heaven, while surrounded by family, after a 6 �½ year victory over breast cancer. Nancy Furness was born in Mason City, Iowa, to Ivan and Elaine Olson on August 20, 1951. She grew up on a farm, giving her a life-long love of animals. She attended Northwood-Kensett Public Schools and graduated in 1969. While in high school, she was on the golf team and played saxophone in the band. During high school, Nancy met her soulmate, Mark Furness, whom she married on November 29, 1969, making Owatonna, MN their home. They brought 6 beautiful children into the world, and she loved them dearly. Nancy's greatest blessing was her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended every sporting event, dance recital, and concert she could attend. She cherished every moment with each and every grandchild. Her great-grandchild, McKenzie, especially held a dear place in her heart. She could never spend enough time with McKenzie. Nancy always had a comforting spirit, and she was dedicated to taking care of others. She cared for many, many children in her daycare, most calling her Grandma. Her love of others also led her to spending many years caring for developmentally-disabled adults. Nancy will always be remembered for her birthday cards which she sent to everyone, her positive, uplifting spirit, and acceptance of anyone just as they are. She was a strong Christian woman who displayed Christ's love in all she did. She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Jennifer Furness; her nephew, Joel Furness and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Mark Furness; parents, Ivan and Elaine (Roppe) Olson of Northwood, IA; sister, Vickie (Dennis) Hudson of Winona, MN; children, Ian (Kari) Furness of Fargo, ND, Tricia Furness of Owatonna, Angela (Jason) Klecker of Owatonna, Mindy (David) Carano of Massillon, OH, JoAnna (Robert) Kennedy of Owatonna; grandchildren, Jordan (Casey), Jordyn, Devon, Stephen, Brandon, Adele, Jasmyn, Tanner, Jason, Thomas, Aidan, LexiAnne, and Marcus; great-grandchild, McKenzie; many nieces, nephews, and cousins Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday, January 27, 2017 at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Christian Family Church in Owatonna with Dr. Tim and Pastor Cherri�© Peterson and Pastor Dennis Hudson officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna at a later date. Memorials will be shared with Breast Cancer Research and Special Olympics.
