Ryg , 76, of West Concord, Minnesota, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. He was born October 3, 1931 in Kenyon, Minnesota the son of Nels and Clara (Pinske) Ryg. Nels served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. He married Margaret Spinler, June 4th, 1955 at St. Edwards Church in Richland Township, Faribault, MN. Nels worked for 23 years at Blaisdell in West Concord as a mechanic and also at Mr. D''s Owatonna Ford for 17 years. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, a 50 year member of the American Legion in West Concord, a life member of the VFW in Kenyon and was a volunteer fireman in West Concord for 25 years. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, woodworking, gardening, playing Santa Claus and bar-b-queing hogs for various organizations. Nels is survived by his wife Margaret M. (Spinler) Ryg of West Concord, MN; daughters, Karen (Randy) Franko of Dodge Center, Vicki (James) Pirkl of Faribault, Barbara (Russ) Pettit of Farmington; son, Wayne (Connie) Ryg of Owatonna; 9 grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Heggedahl of West Concord and Helen Merrill of Sioux Falls, SD. Nels is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gordon; two sisters, Norma and Mayme. Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in West Concord. Funeral services will be held at St.Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in West Concord on Thursday at 10:30AM with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The Reverend Doug Gitz will be officiating. Interment will be at St Vincent DePaul Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the West Concord Fire Department or donor''s choice.
