Neva M. Smith, 83, of Faribault, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Faribault Care Center. She was born February 10, 1929 in Alden, Minnesota the daughter of Lawrence and Eunice (Peterson) Nelson. Neva grew up in the Alden, MN and Bixby area where she attended school. She married Donald Branderhorst February 22, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The couple later divorced. Neva enjoyed roller skating in her younger years, and grew into riding motorcycles which she really enjoyed. She also enjoyed spending time with her two sons, and spending time reading the Bible, she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son, Rock (and Adela Torrez ) Branderhorst of Owatonna, two sisters, Ardella Lackey of Richmond, CA, Elaine Langhoff of Algona, IA, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Randy, brother Jerome Nelson, and sister Nona Fisher. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday January 30, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 31, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Greg Schlicker officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Bixby.
