Obituary

Norma Kathryn (Myers) Betlach, 87, of Owatonna, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Owatonna Hospital. She was born May 21, 1924 near Blooming Prairie the daughter of Kenneth and Alice (Anderson) Myers. She attended School District 93 and was a graduate of Blooming Prairie High School and Austin Normal School. She taught ten years in the rural schools of Steele County and also worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington for a short time during World War II. On June 30, 1951, she married Joseph J. Betlach at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie and they moved to Owatonna. As an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she was a circle member, taught Sunday School, Bible School and released time classes. In her later years, she was a Laubach Reading tutor, an election judge, and Red Cross Volunteer. She was a member of the Owatonna Woman''s Club, Sons of Norway, Rural Teachers of Steele County, and Steele County Historical Society. She enjoyed gardening, baking, bird watching, attending concerts and musicals, and spending time with family and friends. Norma is survived by two daughters, Julie (and Greg) Aune of St. Peter, Nancy (and Randy) Schmitz of Lakeville; son, Michael (and Kathy) of Owatonna; four grandchildren, Berit (and Aaron) Allar, Sonja Aune, Joe Betlach, Holly (and Adam) Arndt; two sisters, Margie Zenowitz, Janet (and Jim) Guttormson; three brothers, George (and Ina) Myers, Ronald (and Arlene) Myers, Doug (and Judy) Myers; brothers-in-law, Howard Peterson, Bob Dunker; sister-in-law, Dorothy Betlach and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Betlach; sisters, Lois Dunker, Pat Peterson; brothers-in-law Bill Zenowitz, Arnold Hovland, Verne Betlach, Sr. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 9:30am to 11:00am. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
