Norma Mae Schaumburg, 88, of Owatonna, passed away Thursday, April 2, at the Brooks in Owatonna.
Norma was born May 9, 1926 in Emmons, Minnesota the daughter of Clarence and Selma (Singlestad) Sondrol. She attended a one room school in Emmons, Minnesota. Norma met her future husband, Lester Schaumburg, while working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Albert Lea. Norma and Lester were married on May 20, 1950 in Albert Lea. They moved to Owatonna in 1951. In addition to raising five children, Norma also worked at Josten's until her retirement in 1982.
Norma loved crafts of all kinds. She enjoyed family road trips to state parks along with boating and fishing. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Cindy (John) Christensen of Chisholm, Bonnie Schaumburg (Steve Johnson) of Wayzata, Julie Fierke (Tim) of Owatonna, and Kim Wilson (Jack) of Owatonna; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Ann Paczkowski of Kasson; brother, Charles Sondrol of Story City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; son, Clair; grandson, John Christensen; brother, Rev. Donald Sondrol.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Christopher Leach officiating. Interment will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Owatonna Home Care and Hospice.
