Obituary

Ordella Jeanette Arneson, born on March 2, 1910, in Garden City (Hardin County), Iowa, to Olava and John Walker, died on June 28, 2013 at the age of 103 in the Kenyon Sunset Home, Kenyon, Minnesota, where she had resided since May, 2010. Ordella, the youngest of nine children, grew up in the Kenyon, Minnesota area and was, until her death, a member of the Hauge Lutheran Church. She graduated from Mankato Teacher''s College in 1930 with a two-year degree in elementary education. In 1972, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Mankato State College. She taught school in the Kenyon area until her marriage to Arnold Pontus Arneson, from Lambacken, Sweden, on November 7, 1942. After their marriage, Ordella and Arnold moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where their son David was born in 1944. In 1950 Ordella, Arnold and David moved to Kenyon, Minnesota, where Arnold became owner and operator of the Arneson Bus Service. Ordella, whose primary role was mother and housewife, also kept the bus business''s books and occasionally did substitute teaching and bus driving. A few years after Arnold''s death in 1979, Ordella moved to the Teachers'' Apartments in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2005 she moved to an assisted living apartment at Presbyterian Homes in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, lived there until moving back to Kenyon in 2010. Ordella was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold P. Arneson; sisters, Clara Stolee, Nellie Stolee, Hattie Helland, and Charlotte Walker; brothers, Henry Walker, Clarence Walker, Theodore Walker and Orvin Walker. Ordella is survived by her son, David and his wife Marilyn; her grandchildren, Mark (Melinda) Arneson, and Kim Arneson(Todd) Frenger; her great-grandchildren, Riley Arneson, Skyler Arneson, Jayden Frenger and Tyler Frenger. Graveside services will be held at July 6, 2013 12:30 P.M. for family and friends at Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon Minnesota. Burial will be in Kenyon Cemetery, Kenyon, Minnesota. Pastor Orval Osmundson (Great Nephew) and Pastor Harland Helland (Nephew) will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the service. A Celebration of Life and lunch will at held at the Gunderson Gardens on July 6, 2013 2:00 P.M. family and friends. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon, Minnesota. Memorials to donor''s preference.
