Orville H. Rothgarn, 92, of Owatonna, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Clare Bridge Cottage. He was born April 23, 1920 on the family farm in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota the son of Walter and Alma (Adler) Rothgarn. He received his schooling in the Red Wing-Bellchester area. In his early 20''s, he came to Owatonna and helped with farming for Walter Pitan and at Bordens. In 1944, he was employed at the Owatonna Tool Company. In time, he was a lead man in the Lathe Department. During these years he married Lillie Mae Hansen. Together they celebrated their 25th anniversary. Lillie passed away in 1980. He later married Adrienne Ahlers and they made their home in Owatonna. Orville worked for the Owatonna Tool Company for 391/2 years and retired in 1982. His hobbies were raising soybeans, landscaping, leveling lawns, sodding, seeding, and rolling lawns. He was very gifted and handy fixing and repairing machinery. His passion was restoring old two cylinder John Deere tractors. He loved the searching for original parts. He was a perfectionist in his work and some of his tractors were displayed at the former Kaplan Museum. He also restored some antique automobiles. He collected miniature John Deere tractors, farming equipment, and old cars. He had a kind heart especially when it comes to animals. He had rescued 3 cats and gave them good homes. He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Rothgarn of Owatonna; his sister, Helen Keith of Barnum; and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald and Lloyd, half brother, Charles, sisters, Dorothy, Vera, and Verna. A special thanks to all the workers at Clare Bridge Cottage, and to Homestead Hospice for their wonderful care. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, the Humane Society, or Homestead Hospice.
