Papa John G. Trapp, 64, of Kenyon, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus.
He was born July 19, 1950 in Faribault, Minnesota, the son of Roy and Pearl (Heinbuch) Trapp. John graduated from Kenyon High School in 1968 and then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis to become a Class A Journeyman electrician. John was united in marriage to Cindy Estrem on June 21, 1975, at Vang Lutheran Church, and the couple made their home in Kenyon. John worked for Ronning Electric and Fredrickson Electric in Kenyon, and then began working for Nietz Electric in Rochester where he continued working for thirty-three years before retiring in 2014 due to his health. John also farmed until 1992 on the family farm. Papa John was adored by his grandchildren. It was easy to like John (Trapper) as he appreciated the company of all people. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and tinkering on miscellaneous projects.
He is survived by his wife Cindy Trapp of Kenyon, mother, Pearl Trapp of Kenyon, daughter Kara (Marc) Oien of Owatonna, daughter, Megan (Sam) Henschen of Eden Prairie, son, Nick (Brandi) Trapp of Frazee, five grandchildren Ezra, Thomas, William, Owen, and Pierce. John is also survived by his two brothers David (Gail) Trapp of West Concord, and Daniel (Jone) Trapp of Mantorville, and sister Lisa (Scott) Androli of Kenyon, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Trapp, of Kenyon, and his brother, Donald Trapp, of Mendota Heights.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday May 24, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday May 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating.
