Patricia Lynn Brown, 71, of Faribault, formerly of Medford, died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Faribault Medical Center.
She was born May 18, 1951, in Oak Harbor, Washington the daughter of John Sorenson and Gertrude "Trudy" Van Dyke. She grew up in Slayton, Minnesota where she graduated from high school in 1969. She was honored to be selected as "Miss Slayton" in 1969. She continued her education at Bob Jones University studying music for two years and then attended Mounds Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul where she earned her nursing degree. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna.
She was united in marriage to Norman Brown on July 7, 1972, in Slayton, MN. The couple made their home in St. Paul and Patricia worked at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. In 1977, the family moved to Owatonna and she worked at the Owatonna Hospital in the Emergency and ICU departments and retired from District One Hospital in Faribault. She also worked with Healthy Seniors in Owatonna and home care.
Patricia proudly served in the United States Army Reserves and was deployed during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and served at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas as a nurse.
Patricia was a member of Grace Baptist Church, attended Bible Study Fellowship and was a 4H leader for "Busy Buddies" in Owatonna.
She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, flowers, singing and bird watching. But most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, was a prayer warrior for her family and friends and willingly shared her faith with everyone she knew.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Brown; children, Bruce (Carolyn) Brown, Leslie Brown, Scott Brown, Elizabeth Brown, and Allison (Corey) Samora; grandchildren, Madeleine Anderson, Zackary Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Grant Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Rachel Huston, Alexis Brown, Elliott Brown, Nicolas Taylor, Maddix Samora and Gianna Samora; sisters, Myra (Daniel) Willemin, Marcia (Jerry) Carrier and Jean (Chris) Heinly and many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, April 17th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM and at Grace Baptist Church on Tuesday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Tolosa officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
