Obituary

Patricia "Patty" Jean Parks, 84, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Summit Place Assisted Living in Eden Prairie. Patty was born May 2, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Raymond and Maude (Chamberlain) Gould. There she was raised and graduated from Washburn High School. She attended Lawrence College in Appleton, WI; where she received her Bachelors of Arts degree. She taught school for a short while in the metro area. Patty was united in marriage to Hobart Bud Parks on July 11, 1959 in Minneapolis. The couple moved to Medford for a short time and later moved to Owatonna where Bud owned his own chiropractic practice. Bud died in 1996. Patty continued making her home in Owatonna. She eventually moved to Clare Bridge and later to Summit Place Assisted Living in Eden Prairie to be closer to her family. Patty enjoyed playing bridge along with other card games. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, worked with Young Life, volunteered during elections with voter registration and was an active member at Associated Church. She enjoyed going on walks and exercising. She is survived by two sons, Andrew (and Sarah) Parks of DePere, WI; David (and Karen) Parks of Golden Valley; a daughter, Sarah Parks of Minneapolis; and two grandchildren, Anna and Eric Parks. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Hobart Parks Jr., her parents, and her brother John Gould. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Katherine Gibson Christensen officiating. Interment will be in the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to Young Life. Visitation: 12/13/2014 10:00 12/13/2014 11:00 Service: 12/13/2014 11:00
