Paul S. Chesney, 82, of Owatonna, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Owatonna Hospital. He was born December 10, 1926 in Steele County, Minnesota the son of Paul and Rose (Pfeifer) Chesney. Paul worked at Cashman''s Greenhouse in Owatonna until he enlisted into the US Army. After his military service, he married LaVerne Shumila on October 13, 1949 in Owatonna. Paul worked for the Owatonna Canning Company for 41 years. He was a life member of the VFW, in which he was the Past Commander in 1966-67, life member of the American Legion, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed casinos, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his spouse LaVerne of Owatonna; two daughters, Jackie (and Denny) Hand of Tuscon, AZ; Denise (and Gary) Miller of Owatonna; son, Doug (and Marcia) Chesney of Eden Prarie; brother, Terry (and Vicki) Chesney of Lake Crystal, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant brother Donald. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday December 18, 2008 from 4-7 PM and on Friday one hour prior to service. Funeral service will be held on Friday December 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
