Phil L. 'Bud' Anhorn, 83, of Madison Lake and Owatonna, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital. Bud was born September 30, 1926 in Deerfield Township, Minnesota the son of George and Teresa (Tully) Anhorn. There he was raised and attended country school. He worked on the family farm before entering the United States Army in January 1945 serving during WWII and in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. After his honorable discharge in August 1946 he returned to Owatonna. He was united in marriage to Harriet Wesley on June 22, 1948 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In later years, Bud and Harriet enjoyed spending winter months in New Braunfels, TX. Harriet died in 1998. Bud worked for Hope Creamery hauling milk for over 30 years retiring in 1988. He was a long term member of the VFW, the Legion and the Elks. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was instantly liked by those he met. He enjoyed visiting with people but most importantly, Bud enjoyed dancing. He is survived by three daughters, Peggy (and John) Ganey of Mankato; Theresa (and Dan) Anger of Pine Island; Brenda Richardson of Mankato; three sons, Dale (and Marge) Anhorn of Owatonna; Dan Anhorn of New Braunfels, TX; David (and Jody) Anhorn of Waseca; two sisters, Arnett Bahls of Owatonna; Virginia Meinke of Faribault; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Dee Lawler of New Braunfels. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet, his parents, three brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law, Suzie Anhorn. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, October 9 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
