Philip L. Hirst, 71, of Claremont since 2005, formerly of Ocala, FL, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Fairview Care Center. He was born July 13, 1937 in Methuen, Massachusetts the son of Charles and Dorothy (Keyes) Hirst. Philip attended Methuen schools until serving in the Air Force from 1955-1959. During his military service Philip met and married Geneva Mooneyhan in 1958. In 1959 Philip began working at Western Electric in MA, which later became ATT, retiring after 25 years. Philip was loved by many throughout all of his travels and while always giving thanks to god. Philip was an avid sportsman from early childhood and had a great passion for life. He is survived by daughters, Dotty (and Bartley) Peterson of Claremont, Phyllis (and Edward) Broderick of New Hampshire, Susan Hirst of Florida; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; brother, Eugene Hirst of Maine. Philip was preceded in death by his wife Geneva in 2002. Private graveside services will be held Monday, June 22, 2009 at with The Reverend Michelle Miller officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Claremont American Legion Post 422.
